Well, this weekend I went wild in the kitchen baking (yeah I know, not raw vegan) for my husband. He's been bummed about his food allergies, so I spoiled him and made him vegan, gluten free, soy free, etc. free chocolate cake, apple spice muffins, and an apple galette. I also made banana muffins for my nephew - and he loved them! My sister-in-law said, "I can't believe they aren't real!!!", which I definitely take as a compliment. I may use them down the line as cupcakes.
I made some frosting for the chocolate cake and learned a really big lesson. The vast majority of powdered sugar on the market is made with up to 20% corn starch to "prevent clumping." I was SO disappointed when I brought the cake over to my family's house to discover that ingredient and that my nephew couldn't have any. I've learned my lesson though and have heard that Trader Joe's may carry some with tapioca starch instead.
I'm not advocating the consumption of sugar and didn't have any myself...but you do have to live a little and I say birthdays are fair game :)
I've had a hard time of it lately. My colon has stabbing pains if I eat anything starchy or with sugar (meaning fruit sugars - moderate to high on the glycemic index) so I haven't had fruit or sprouted grains in a month and a half. I'm down to a size zero, I'm bruising easily with b12 shots, dry skin, brittle nails, my hair isn't growing - I'm malnourished. I went to see my doctor and I'm having some tests done to see what all I'm lacking nutritionally, but he said I should keep on a low carbohydrate diet because of the candida and since I can't supplement with any of the vegetarian friendly foods (I'm super allergic to eggs and milk), he suggested I have fish or other proteins a couple times a week. He suggested some vendors who research and supply from sustainable farms following humane practices. Since I have no energy and am really starting to feel wasted, I am going to take his advice. It made me a little nervous about losing some new vegan friends, but hopefully this is temporary and my lovely personality makes up for my short comings.
Actually, it got me thinking a lot about ethics and labels. From a religious standpoint, I personally don't believe that animals are spiritual equals. I also believe that we were intended to be shepherds and have done a royally sh***y job of it. Animals were not meant to be kept in the condition they are in - it's simply cruel no matter where they stand spiritually. They also aren't meant to eat what they do or be kept in such close quarters. The vast majority of our animal food supply is sick! Even eating wild caught is iffy because they've been exposed to major pollution and heavy metals. We have soiled the dinner plate my friends. That being said, animals offer a full range of amino acids, and when your hair and teeth are on the verge of falling out, I say eat the fish. I may never be able to be 100% vegan all the time, but I'll continue to be mindful of clothing purchases and continue to buy vegan personal care products, etc.
I guess I'm one of those people who will be vegan for health, but it goes slightly beyond that.
Enough of ethics. Moving on to health stuff.
I'm still taking Adya Clarity for the heavy metal poisoning. I'm pretty malnourished right now so it's hard to tell what is a symptom of detox and what is a symptom of not getting the nutrients I need. My stomach seems alright and I haven't been in pain. I've had a lot of fatigue, which makes work a little more difficult. I'm still trying to work up to two super shots a day, but I seem stuck hovering at one. I no longer get nauseated or dizzy from the Clarity, so it's probably time to try to up the dose again. I figure the sooner I'm on 2 doses, the sooner I can get rid of the heavy metal and candida. The sooner I get rid of candida, the sooner I can eat a wider variety and pick and choose what I eat. Yay!
You know, to be perfectly honest, I hope that one day I can splurge on my vegan gluten free baked goods and not suffer serious repercussions. At this point I'll just take getting peaches back in time for next season.
I've started a new blog and am posting my allergy-friendly recipes. They will not all be vegan. I thought a while about that and decided it's more important to hit a wide range of people looking for allergy free food and try to educate about sustainability and healthy choices. I know so many people with allergies that compromise their health because of tastes and lack of effort and parents who are overwhelmed by it all. I just hope to help some people out.

I hope you start to feel better soon. and if your friends are really your friends they'll stay your friends if you and your Dr. decide you should alter your diet for your best well fare.

I found this web site, searching for reviews on 'Adya Clarity' too.. when i say reviews i was looking for all 'Good', 'Neutral' or'Bad' reviews.. but was very curious that there was ONLY 'Good' reviews... not even one 'Neutral'?...interesting.. I was wanting to heal from a medium case of diarrhea issues and a naturapath wondered if it could be candida related... i was following these rawfoodworld 'M and A' people at that time and found that they were selling this latest and greatest Adya Clarity for 200 dollars that they claimed HEALED A of candida... so i decided to spend my savings on it...reasoning it as my health is more important than money... i drank it... and it did not change anything for me... my case was 'neutral' hoping it has not caused any harm...
ReplyDeletewell recently i found that these same people 'Rawfoodworld' are selling it at half price 'At cost' specials ...the first thing that comes to mind is .. why is it being sold at 100% profit? the second is it still 'At cost' or is it still marked up? Why is it so expensive when Black mica is found cheaply? It was pretty frustrating that there are people out there that show that they are interested in the health of people but are very similar to car salesmen just selling something different...the targeted group is people who are trying to heal...
Ofcourse posting this frustration on their youtube links only led to being deleted.. why would they keep it? wont it affect their sales and their life style depends on it.. M and A remind me of the characters in the movie 'the Jonses' if you havent seen it, worthwhile watching.. just selling products thats about it... even when they are showing a recipe for a Smoothie... they are still selling products...it is unreal how people can get sucked into believing anything... it is no different than Fox News..
Thanks for your suggestion 'anonymous' on a cheaper place to get 'AC' although i wont be buying it anymore... may be someone will benefit from it...
I completely agree with the above post regarding prices. When I had asked Dimondhealth (mentioned in a previous thread) about the prices of Adya Clarity being so high and theirs much lower, they had said that it was unfortunate that people were being taken advantage of in regards to this product. They said that there were a couple of companies trying to make it more affordable and hopefully in the future it will be. The sad part about all of this is there's someone spreading lies regarding the authenticity of Adya Clarity because they're upset that those companies are pricing it much lower and they're forced to do the same. People are believing it unfortunately. The only reason I know it's a lie is because I tried from more than once source myself (before I found it priced cheaper) and all results were the same. Just shows what length people are willing to go to make a profit...

It should be noted, also, that some people can do fine being vegetarian, and some can't. Everyone's biochemistry is different.
All I can say is: Research any supplement before you take it. Find independent sources for information, not information from those selling the product.
